How To Lock In Killer First And Business Class Fares

If you haven't already booked your flight for the holidays, you may be holding out for some spectacularly low fare in a last-minute deal...or you're a procrastinator. Either way, flights are an expense none of us really want to incur. If you're looking for a deal, you usually end up settling for too much just to sit at the back of the plane with your knees pressed up against the seat in front of you and a bag of nuts in your hand. As you board the plane, you scour at those relaxing under soft blankets enjoying a glass of wine and a movie before you've even ascended.

Scour no more. If you can make decisions fast, there are some incredibly low fares that come and go in the blink of an eye and you just need to be ready to pull the trigger. In a highly competitive atmosphere, airlines are constantly adjusting their fares. In fact, there are more than a million fare changes around the world each day! In an effort to get more frequent fliers, airlines will offer special first and business class discounts that only last anywhere from 24 hours to a couple weeks. Here are some examples...

- First class fares discounted 52% from Miami, NY, and DC to Europe on United, American, and Lufthansa.

- Business class fares to Buenos Aires starting at $1690

- Business class fares to Asia discounted 39% on Delta

- Business class fares to Lima, Peru starting at $1097 on American and Delta.

Unfortunately, most people see a great fare and shrug their shoulders because they don't know what their schedule will be. Little do you know, thirteen major airlines will allow you to lock and hold a fare and many airlines allow you to cancel a ticket without penalty. So next time you see a good deal, check with the airline regarding their holding and cancellation policies and lock in that great rate. If you can work your schedule around it, you won't have to deal with the jet-lag of a back-seat flight again.
