How To Get Your Home Holiday Ready
By Kurt Real Estate Nov 23, 2019
We all look forward to holiday traditions and the season’s festivities. However, for most of us, this also means hosting a lot of family and friends, which can turn this wonderful time into the most stressful time of year. Often we find ourselves pressured to make everything perfect and scrambling to clean-up and get our homes ready for showing off. This year plan ahead of time and follow these tips to get your home holiday-ready for your guests.
Start with the front door.
Hang a wreath, put out a festive doormat and some poinsettias, sweep the front porch, and make it an inviting entrance.
Tidy-up the kitchen.
Clean-up any existing clutter and clean those floors and counters. The kitchen is generally the first place your guests will enter and it will quickly become disorderly with a variety of dishes.
Line your oven with tin foil to prevent unnecessary messes and hours of cleaning later.
Bring out a fresh sponge for cleaning the dishes.
Prep the bedrooms/spare room.
Your guests are going to need a place to put their bags, jackets, coats, and other miscellaneous personal items. Like the kitchen, this quickly creates a cluttered mess. Prep a bedroom or spare room for these items and dim the lighting in the room so as not to call attention to it.
Clean the bathroom.
Eliminate any obvious stains and ensure your bathroom is stocked with odor eliminators. Light a festive and aromatic candle and keep an odor eliminating spray in clear view for your guests to use. Ensure all towels are cleaned and folded.
