One Hundred Years Ago
On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, in the year nineteen-hundred eighteen, the Allied Nations and The Triple Alliance reached an Armistice, ceasing “the war to end all wars.”
One year later, President Wilson, proclaimed, the 11th of November, as Armistice Day.
One Hundred Years Ago…
On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, in the year nineteen-hundred eighteen, the Allied Nations and The Triple Alliance reached an Armistice, ceasing “the war to end all wars.”
One year later, President Wilson, proclaimed, the 11th of November, as Armistice Day.
“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations”
– Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States of America.
On May 13th, 1938, November 11th, became a legal holiday, officially honoring veterans of the Great War.
During the midst of the Second World War, on June 22, 1944, President Roosevelt, signed the Serviceman’s Readjustment Act into law, more commonly known as the G.I Bill. An important provision of the Bill was low interest, zero-down payment home loans for servicemen. Many returning veterans took advantage of these offerings, and millions of American families to move out of urban apartments and into suburban homes, during the Post War Housing Boom.
Nine years after World War II, and almost a year after the Korean War, in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill into law, replacing the word “Armistice” with “Veterans” expanding the November 11th holiday, to celebrate and remember all Veterans.
Congress in 1992 enacted the Veterans Home Loan Program Amendments, expanding benefits to all veterans, including Reservist and National Guard personnel.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to those who have served and are still serving in the Armed Forces.
If you know a veteran who needs assistance in procuring VA Financing, it would be my honor to help them.
Thank you again & Best always,
